... and occasional Tanka... and Haibun. Started after a competition on the unbound.co.uk blog (see #1 and #2). Mostly actually senryu, I think. This year attempting to publish a Haiku every day - 365 Haiku a Day. For good or for ill, I always aim to stick rigidly to a 5-7-5 structure - forgive me if I have counted the syllables wrong, often they are how I have said, or thought, them in my head rather than their official number.
the mythical bird
hiding amongst the normals
will always stand out
myna makes them laugh.
but too much and they will fall;
unfortunate fate.
hissing and arching,
claws bared and ready to attack.
hibiscus patch fight.
eyes on his daughter
eyes on the business at hand
dragon kings will feud.
glancing at the scroll -

she knows not this yet.
the pandemic of
sad animals spread too fast.
deer, boar, bear are last.
men from far away -
why do they rattle me so
I see them this way?
